Thinking about our mortality can be frightening, no matter one’s age or health condition. As we get older, the reality of our own mortality will often come into clearer focus too.

With an aim to dispelling myths and fears and to explore values and views toward end-of-life issues, AMKFSC launched a nation-wide public education campaign called “Good-To-Go” that covers Advance Care Planning  and end-of-life matters.

Eden Law is honoured to partner with AMKFSC on their “Good-to-Go” campaign. To this end, our Associate Director Low Seow Ling spoke on Lasting Powers of Attorney and Wills to an audience of medical professionals at Seng Kang Community Hospital on 9 January 2020.

We hope this will empower our audience to be better equipped to discuss end-of-life planning with their patients!

By 2030, one in five in Singapore will be over 60. Singaporeans have the third-highest life expectancy in the world, at 82.7 years. It is also projected that statistically, 100,000 Singaporeans may suffer from dementia by then.

As such, we at Eden Law believe that Estate Planning is an important safeguard for all Singaporeans in the event that one becomes mentally incapacitated, be it in old age or through untimely accident or mental illness.

Our Associate Director, Low Seow Ling was honoured to be invited by St Luke’s ElderCare to share on Mental Capacity, the Lasting Power of Attorney and Deputyship to their Maintenance Day Care Centre clients.

This outreach event is in line with our firm’s commitment to empower our community with legal knowledge.

While providing an overview on these topics to the social service professionals in attendance, June also shared on the recent developments on the iFAMS platform aimed at enabling the public to file simple Deputyship applications on their own.

By helping social workers understand the legal issues better, getting them acquainted with the court system and the available sources of help, we hope to play a part in aiding the community in times of need and channel the community to the appropriate resources in a timely and correct manner.
