Project LEAF

Project LEAF (Legal Empowerment & Assistance for Foreign spouses) is a collaboration between Eden Law and Law Society Pro Bono Services, to cater to the legal needs of foreign spouses with Singaporean citizen children who find themselves in matrimonial disputes on a pro bono basis.

As these foreign spouses are not able to avail themselves of legal aid due to their immigration status in Singapore and yet unable to afford market-rate legal services, these foreign spouses and their Singaporean children are vulnerable to abuse and are unable to assert their legal rights in Court on their own. Their cases often involve a myriad of legal issues, spanning from domestic violence to maintenance enforcement to divorce and child custody.

Project LEAF has a modest aim of assisting at least 50 such families by the end of 2019, with plans to expand the program if successful.

The project currently accepts enquiries from case workers in crisis shelters only. For enquiries, please contact our Community Engagement Manager or the Law Society Pro Bono Services.
